Director Tim Burton is to lead the jury at this year's Cannes Film Festival in May. The US film-maker says he's looking forward to the role, which will see him head a nine-member panel, saying that it's a "great honour". He adds: "When you think of Cannes, you think of world cinema. And, as films have always been like dreams to me, this is a dream come true. After spending my early life watching triple features and 48-hour horror movie marathons, I'm finally ready for this".
And that's about it, really. I could fill up some space with interesting facts about Burton's career, but I'm sure you all know that the director has made films such as 'Edward Scissorhands', 'Beetlejuice', and the 'Planet Of The Apes' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' remakes. You probably also know that his partner is Helena Bonham Carter. You may or may not know that his next feature is an adaptation of 'Alice in Wonderland' starring his long term collaborator Johnny Depp.
